ALPHA Tv Publishes Fake Pics Of Golden Dawn, Lawsuits Issued

Talk about incredible media forgery all in the name of disinformation. A picture can indeed express a thousand words, and sometimes it can also fool the naked eye. Such a photo was published at the weekend showing several Golden Dawn members who, according to reports, stormed into the Panarcadian Hospital in the Peloponnese in military attire and bullied several foreign nurses there who were working there illegally. From the very first moment, the Golden Dawn party said that the story was fake, but the mudslinging continued.

The graphic artists who worked on the photo were obviously experts. They cut out four figures from a recent Golden Dawn rally in Crete, and added a backdrop of a hospital hallway. They then added the title "Golden Dawn Storms Panarcadian Hospital" and presto, an instant story!

Cheap tabloid journalism, and an effort by various media groups in Greece, to obviously discredit GD and spread disinformation.

The photo was published in the "Journalists Gazette", but warned the media that it was a product of montage, nonetheless Alpha Tv ignored the announcement and actually used the photo in its nightly news report.

That is not all. The news report also said that the GD bullies entered several rooms and forced nurses who were not working with legal documents to abandon their posts. This too was a lie, because no such storming of rooms took place. Nonetheless, the Greek press in its fury to make GD look like the boogeyman, decided to publish the story anyway and the result was the dismissal of the hospital director!

More exactly, a delegation of GD did indeed visit the hospital, but only at an administrative level as other political parties such as SYRIZA, New Democracy, PASOK and DIMAR have done in the past. But because this woman sat down, showed them the same respect and took the time to speak with these parliamentarians, she was suddenly stigmitized and accused of supporting their policies and therefore she was removed from her post.

That is why the ultra-right party decided to file several lawsuits against the television channel and all those responsible for the creation of the picture. In an announcement, the Golden Dawn party said that by "using a ghastly montage from the journalism gazette, Alpha (television) went overboard to spread disinformation in the framework of slandering the Golden Dawn party".

And we ask... Is that democratic?

Do we or do we not live in a democracy?

Imagine how many such stories have been presented to us and we actually believed them.

Obviously if you seek the truth, and publish the truth, you are blacklisted by the media and the political elite. HellasFrappe cannot follow suit. We intend on being objective. It is true that we do not politically support the Golden Dawn party, but we will not support lies and we will certainly not support tabloid journalism. We are truth seekers, and as such will keep on struggling to strive and fight for democracy!
